Please help me fund my way to Lebanon!

I have been selected to be a part of an all-female volunteer team that will travel to the Bekka Valley, Lebanon in May 2020 as part of the Free Border Skate programme - a play therapy initiative designed for children and teens affected by armed conflict, displacement and poverty.

Free Border Skate is a female-led, female-centred extreme sport programme, aimed at fostering positive spaces for youngsters living in areas of conflict and civil unrest. It encourages children and teenagers to positively express themselves, and work towards overcoming the trauma(s) of their past. The aim is that programme participants will grow emotionally as they learn through encouragement for the skate community that we build together.

Run under the umbrella of Salam UK (Salam LADC), the programme aims to strength self-confidence, wellbeing and communication, by teaching young people how to skate. However, it is more than just learning a new sport, more importantly it is about giving the opportunity to play and have fun, and therefore the chance to be children again. It will be a challenge and an adventure to be able to be part of this team effort, and your support will help me do so!

The amount raised will cover my flight, housing, airport pickup, transportation to and from SALAM headquarters and one cultural outing. Any extra money raised will be used for future expeditions by Free Border Skate, purchasing roller skates for refugees and continuation of the programme after we leave.
