I am going to take part in the annual endurance swim from the Isle of Cumbrae to Largs Sailing Club on Sat 21^st Sept 2019.

We take the ferry across to the Island of the Cumbrae and I will then be swimming back across the 1.7mile sea channel which will be a very different challenge to the pool swimming I am used to – with waves and currents meaning it will feel more like 3miles, as well as lots of jelly fish!

So far to get used to the open water I’ve swam twice at Pennington Flash in Leigh, doing 2miles last Sunday.

It’s all in aid of a very good cause; Gillian’s Saltire Appeal was set up in memory of Largs Mum, Gillian Ward who died of cancer in 2005, and all money raised goes towards making a real difference to the lives of others who suffer from this same illness
