Great Manchester Run 2023 · 21 May 2023 ·

Manchester Women's Aid, part of The Pankhurst Trust, supports survivors of domestic violence and abuse in Manchester. We offer a holistic programme of life-saving support, including emergency refuge accommodation, community outreach, specialist BAME services, education programmes and counselling.

Story

Apparently, putting myself through gruelling physical challenges has become a habit of mine and, in May, I’ll be taking on the Great Manchester Run in aid of The Pankhurst Trust - I couldn’t think of a worthier cause.

The Pankhurst Trust brings together the Pankhurst Centre (home of the Pankhurst family and birthplace of the Suffragette movement) and Manchester Women’s Aid, who deliver vital work to ensure those suffering from domestic violence and abuse get the confidential help they need.

The Trust plays a crucial role in continuing the fight towards gender equality; operating in and around Manchester, it feels all the more meaningful a choice. I’ll be trying to channel the Manc spirit as I drag myself round the 13 miles (the least I can do to pay tribute to the incredible women the organisation exists to celebrate/support).

In return, if you fancy sponsoring me a few pennies, I’d be very grateful. Thanks in advance for support of any kind!
