Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My dad has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and is currently spending time at The Hospice of the Good Shephard to help with pain relief and monitor his depleating blood levels. The difference to the environment in the hospice compared to a hospital ward is striking and being acutely phobic of needles, hospitals and anything medical related, it is amazing to see how comfortable he is here while he cannot be at home. It is an extremely sad time for us all and heartbreaking to see somebody you love so unwell, but the work of the hospice provides peace of mind that he is well looked after once we have to go home.

I have signed up to run a 10k beach run in Blackpool on 19th May 2013. Considering I am not a runner this will be a challenge but I have been in training for 5 weeks so far and am determined to do this for my dad and the hospice. I have chosen the date as this is his birthday and I hope with all my heart that he is here to see me complete this challenge - even if it is from his chair :)

Even as I am writing this it all seems so surreal that this is happening, but unfortunately it is real, and very tragic that nobody can reverse this and we are all so helpless. Instead I hope to raise as many funds as possible to help the hospice continue to provide the same level of care and support for other families as they have for us. Please Please Please sponsor me and help support a charity that is always there for people when it is too late for anything else.
