Story
This year my dad has gone through a huge change to his life. He has been waiting to see a specialist all year for a diagnosis on his condition and in August a consultant confirmed he suffers from Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), which is a problem with the functioning of the nervous system and how the brain and the body send and receive signals. With the FND his body experiences dystonic movements in his whole body which means he cannot control his body and has sudden spasms.
He is learning to live with this condition which he has playfully named Vivienne, and he is finding ways to control and cope with his new life. I will be completing this challenge in October for Dystonia UK and then next year will do something for FND Hope UK.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated, so thank you in advance.
I will be squatting for 30 days - starting on 20th September and finishing on my birthday 19th October!
Over 100,000 people in the UK are affected by Dystonia, which is a neurological condition presenting with uncontrollable and sometimes painful muscle spasms. Dystonia is a lifelong condition that affects both adults and children that currently has no cure. Dystonia UK is children and adults with dystonia, carers and clinicians, fundraisers and families, medical professionals and our amazing members and supporters, all working side by side. Through our fundraisers and supporters (yes that is you!), we can carry on our mission, so thank you!
