Story
Lea was diagnosed with metastatic kidney cancer in March 2020. Since then, he has been receiving the most amazing treatment, care and support from the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham and more recently, the John Taylor Hospice in Erdington. Even during the most difficult months of the Coronavirus pandemic, his treatment has never been compromised and we couldn’t be more grateful to the staff there for everything they’ve done and are continuing to do to support Lea and our family and to improve his prognosis.
As a family, we really felt that a simple thank you wasn’t enough and wanted to give something more back so have decided to embark on a couple of fundraising events to raise money and awareness for the incredible work done at the John Taylor Hospice.
The first event is a 10km Sunset Walk in Sutton Park on 3rd July with various friends and family and the second event consists of a team of 8 of us, including Lea himself, cycling the 134 miles from Birmingham to London along the Grand Union Canal over 4 days in July.
Any donations, however small, will make a huge difference as the hospice relies heavily on charitable donations and fundraising to carry out its invaluable work and provide support for people living with cancer and their families. Here’s a little description of the work they do…..
John Taylor Hospice provides specialist palliative and end of life care for people in Birmingham and across the West Midlands. Both at the hospice in Erdington and in the local community, care is ‘Taylor-made’ to the individual ensuring people receive support how, where and when they need it.Today more than 600 people and their families will receive the care they need from John Taylor teams.
