Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

The Bobby Moore fund for Cancer Research is committed to beating bowel cancer in memory of the legendary footballer Bobby Moore. The charity was set up by Bobby's wife when she sadly lost her husband to bowel cancer aged just 51.

Similarly in my own family my nan Beryl lost her fight with bowel cancer when she was just 41. My mum was 18 and her brother Steven was 16. Beryl was a beautiful lady and sadly I never got to meet her. Beryl also left behind my amazing football fanatic Grandad Alan and therefore I thought the Bobby Moore fund for bowel cancer seemed perfect! In fact most of my mum's family are football fanatics!

Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK. Bowel disease is also on the increase. I myself have crohn's disease and fight many battles of my own.

So I will be running several races over the next few months, on the 11th October the Great Eastern Half marathon, a Cake-athon run in January where I get to run and eat cake (what could be better) and the big one will be Brighton in April 2016, Beryl also lost her life in April so it's a fitting month. I will be running as many other races I can before April too so I will keep you updated on this page, let me know if you have any races you think I should enter! Throughout the races and training I will be wearing my Bobby Moore charity vest or my Crohn's and Colitis UK running vest to raise awareness for both charities.
