The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity - The Marsden March 2012 · 11 March 2012 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am participating in a 14 mile walk from the Marsden in Fulham to the Marsden in Sutton.
As most of you are aware my little brother Harry was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) in Feb 2011.Our world turned upside down and everything was thrown in to chaos. Harry was to visit The University Of Wales hospital in Cardiff first to start his chemo treatment, then travel back to The Royal Marsden in Sutton where he would spend most of his time having treatments and such like. After 5 lots of treaments over 5 months, Harry was put in to remission. This was fantastic news for us and for once in a long time, we could see a light at the end of the tunnel and could start living life again as a 'normal' family. Then in Sep 2011, we recieved devestating news that we had not anticipated - Harry had relapsed and his Leukameia was back. The long line of treatment started again but this time extra chemo was used and radiotherapy is to be used in addition. He is to undergo a bone marrow transplant - which in effect will be his only chance of beating this and growing up living a relatively normal life. The good news is that I will be his bone marrow donor! As this is a 1 in 4 chance of happening, we felt that someone was definitely looking down on us. His transplant has been put on hold at the moment because he needs to regain strength in his body but hopefully this will happen over time...I am very excited to be able to participate in the wonderful event for a fantastic charity who have been such a significant and valuble part of our lives so far. So please dig deep to help children from minutes old right up to my age to fight against all these terrible diseases and give them a life they deserve :-) . Thank you xxx
