Torture tries to destroy lives. We won't let it. We stand with survivors, providing therapy and support, and fighting for change together.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Freedom from Torture provides support to adults, young people and children who have survived torture and organised violence.

The majority report having been targeted due to their race, ethnic origin, gender, religious, cultural or political beliefs.

Political activists and journalists are often selected by the authorities for exercising their freedom of expression and vocalising their opposition to government policies. Many people are tortured during conflicts, where torture is used to instill a climate of fear.

Freedom from Torture also help the children of torture survivors who may have witnessed violence and abuse or been forced to interpret the stories of their parents to the authorities in the UK, causing them to digest and repeat information which can have a traumatising effect.

I'm lucky, Welsh maybe (!) but lucky. Everyone has the right to a happy life without violence and torture. Unfortunately this is not the kind of world we live in, Freedom From Torture helps rehabilitate survivors to try to make their futures brighter. Please help, even if it's only a quid.

Thanks very much / Diolch yn fawr iawn

Em
