Snowdon Climb 2015 · 6 June 2015 ·
A huge bunch of us are heading up Snowdon on Saturday 6th June 2015 to raise money for Neurosupport. A place that I was lucky enough to find at a very difficult time in my life. I make jokes all the time about the last few years, and often talk about how I was relieved to be diagnosed with a brain tumour after years of issues with mental health. Not many people are lucky enough to have the option of brain surgery as a 'get out of jail free card' for such a significant illness.
I have to be honest and say that although in the main it's been a positive experience learning to manage aspects of my condition, the team at Neurosupport where always there to help me to deal with the really difficult side of my recovery. Memory, temper and tongue biting ability are all important aspects of adult responsibilities, so how can we manage when you have a brain injury that can stand in the way of using these natural human resources? Time, empathy, commitment and a cracking sense of humour! That's what Neurosupport have given me since I found them just over 3 years ago.
People often look at me as if I'm an alien when I talk about being 'super jammy' after being diagnosed with a brain tumour, but I am jammy as I've been fortunate enough to have a number of amazing humans and services by my side at the most challenging, confusing and ever changing time in my life. Because of their support I can now climb up a great big massive hill with a shed load of other genius people who also love Neurosupport.
Please sponsor us so other people can go on to be supported by a charity who focus on the person you are, not the condition you have.
