Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the Virgin London Marathon 2019 in memory of my dear friend Louise who died of breast cancer, aged only 36. I'm raising money for Breast Cancer Care who do an amazing job supporting women living with and beyond breast cancer which is a hideous disease.

Louise was such an incredible woman - beautiful, clever, funny, kind, caring and so very brave. Her wonderful qualities made her very popular and so many people love and miss her. The courage she showed following her diagnosis in 2013 right to the very end is truly inspiring.

Losing Louise has had a profound impact on me and I don't think I'll ever be quite the same person again. I'm very lucky to have been her friend since we were toddlers and fortunate to have hundreds of happy memories with her! I make sure that my daughter knows what an amazing, inspirational woman her godmother was and we talk about her as our guardian angel. I miss Louise every day and hope that the personal challenge of training for the marathon will help channel the grief into a positive cause. Louise inspires me to make the time and keep going with training through the cold, wind and rain.

Sadly, breast cancer seems to be all too common and I know of too many women who have been through or are now going through gruelling treatment. By running the marathon, I hope to be able to play a small part in raising funds to improve support those women and to ensure that by 2050 everyone who develops breast cancer will live and live well.
