Story

The Choir of St Mary's, Enville are hoping to offer 6 junior scholarships for the next four years to children between the ages of 14 & 18. This will be a great way to engage local teenagers with the church and choral singing whilst offering them a huge opportunity to develop their skills and receive money to help fund their ongoing training.

Any donation will help our cause and we hope to establish an environment where we can nurture, discover and reward local talent for years to come.

What is a Junior Choral Scholarship

St Mary’s are appointing scholars between the ages of 14 and 18 to be part of their church choir. Weekly, Monday evening rehearsals (7-8.30pm) and choral evensong every fourth Sunday is the minimum requirement each month

Scholarships will be worth £450 per annum.

Sing as part of the choir for rehearsals, services, weddings and concerts.

Develop your skills as a singer, musician and have fun with a great group of people.

What we will offer in return:

  1. The scholarship will be worth £450 per annum. ⅓ of the sum is to be paid at the end of each term (Winter, Spring and Summer).

  2. Vocal & Music Theory lessons. Each scholar will receive 2 singing lessons each term from the Choral Director, Bradley Thornborough-Barlow. One music theory lesson will also be given to the scholars by Louis Stockton, the Choir Organist.

  3. Ongoing musical training as part of the choir. Scholars will develop their singing abilities, musicianship, sight-singing skills and their  music reading ability in a fun, supportive and relaxed environment.

  4. An enhanced CV and a great University application. Junior choral scholarships look fantastic on University applications and with the developed skills and training received from  the St Mary’s Church Choir, scholars may wish to look for choral scholarships at University which can be worth up to £3000/ year!
