Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So here goes my spiel about why it would mean the world to me if as many of you as possible could donate anything at all towards my 10K run later this year, in aid of Parkinson's UK.

Last year saw someone I can only describe as the dearest person in my life and the woman I owe everything to, being diagnlsed with Parkinsons Disease. Obviously, for my career, I knew about Parkinson's long before this. I even had other relatives with the diagnosis. I empathised with them and their dearest. I worried about how they would all cope in the future. I felt sorry for them, I'm  ashamed to say, maybe even felt pity at times.

What I thought I knew and felt about this disease all changed in that one moment when it dawned on me what was happening to my own loved one. The idea of watching them struggle as they lose control of their body, watching them try to cope with the fear of losing control of their mind, watching them grapple with their own mortality; these feelings changed everything. Luckily, this woman is the strongest I know and will cope with this as she has done with everything in her life: fearlessly.

Still, the magnitude of what was and is to come is something that I continue to struggle to come to terms with. That is why I want to do this one little thing, that I hope might in some way contribute to helping support others who are going through this. Call me naive, but I hope that somehow, in its own tiny way, it might even help towards the eventual goal of finding a cure.

So please donate what you can to what I only now truly realise to be such a worthy cause. Also, please bare in mind that I am in no way athletic and to complete the Vitality British 10k London Run, the struggle will be real ;p

All my love and thanks for your support x
