Story
Around 4 years ago The Royal Marsden supported and cared for Ric’s father, Roger, and our friend, Dan through brain cancer treatment.
Both Roger and Dan were in The Royal Marsden cancer hospital at the same time in 2015. As soon as we told Roger that Dan was living in the Teenage Cancer unit in the same hospital, Roger went to visit him there to show his support and that he was not alone. Roger was shocked that someone so young as Dan was going through something so awful and devastating as him.
However, Roger and Dan came out of the Royal Marsden better and stronger due to the support the Royal Marsden showed them and their incredible facilities there. To know Dan and Roger met there and supported each other makes the The Royal Marsden more special to us.
Unfortunately their cancer did not go away and we lost Roger on 7th April 2018 and Dan, just recently, on 19th October 2019. Both Roger and Dan always remained so brave and their positive attitude to life is something we will never ever forget.
We would like to run in their memory and raise money for The Royal Marsden in their honour so that more people can get access to state of the art equipment and ground breaking Cancer research, and the undivided attention and support of the Doctors and Nurses there.
Any small amount donated will help and will also help push us on through the race for them.
Thank you!
