Every student deserves to show up at school in the fall, ready to learn. Olathe students are asked to bring a set list of school supplies. The OPSF provides a backpack filled with grade-appropriate school supplies for any student who needs help.

Story

Friends, remember when it was time to shop for school supplies, and you got to choose your folders and notebooks and get a brand new box of Crayola crayons? Or when you took your kids to buy new school supplies and they were so excited for that Pink Power Ranger backpack? Some kids come from families where it is a struggle just to get food on the table. These same kids are faced with showing up at school, without school supplies. Then, they start the year feeling behind or not prepared or like they stand out for the wrong reasons. The Olathe Public Schools Foundation will provide a stuffed backpack for any student in our district who needs one. The estimated cost of filling one sturdy backpack is $30. They get a lot of donated goods, but they still need to purchase items because this year...they are filling 3,000+ backpacks.
