Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We have decided to participate in the The Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll Full Marathon (26.2 miles) on Sunday 14th June 2015 to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. We have chosen to raise money for this charity in memory of Dave Irving. Daves wife, Karen was formerly a colleague and is a friend of ours and we want to raise as much money as possible to support the amazing work and care that Marie Curie provided for Dave, Karen and their family.
Dave was 21 when he was first diagnosed with Cancer. He fought it and thankfully got the all clear. However, sadly his Cancer returned 25 years later and was a very aggressive type of Cancer. Dave fought really hard however the Cancer had spread to his lungs and was terminal. Dave sadly lost his battle with Cancer in 2012 at the young age of 46. Losing Dave devastated his wife Karen and his three children. He had so much to live for and his family and friends love and miss him so much!
Dave spent his final days in Woolton's Marie Curie Hospice and Karen cannot praise the staff there that cared for Dave enough. The hospice not only provided Dave with care, comfort and support, they also provided the care and support for his family at the time they needed it most.
The hospice enables people suffering with Cancer to get the care and relief they need. Each person cared for at the hospice is treated as an individual and the care they recieve is individual to them. This is an amazing aspect of the service. The hospice provides many different types from pain relief and respite to end of life care. Without the hospice, people suffering with Cancer would spend a lot of their time in and out of hospital instead of spending quality time with their families. The hospice is an amazing service that cares for the individual and their family at such a devastating time. These are the reasons that we would like to raise as much money as possible to support such a fantastic charity that makes such a difference.
Please donate whatever you can afford; every donation will make such a difference no matter how small.
In Loving Memory of Dave Irving x
