Scottish Half Marathon - 10 year anniversary bash!

Scottish Half Marathon 2016 · 18 September 2016 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I took up running ten years ago in 2006. It has helped to keep me fit, and has given me the confidence to do things I thought I could never do. This September will also see the tenth anniversary of the death of my good friend Brendan Barrett, who died of liver cancer aged only 34. Bren also helped me so often and gave me so much confidence, that I felt it was only right to mark both anniversaries by running for The Christie Hospital in Manchester, to thank them for the care they provided to him when he was ill. At the time, I happened to live 10 minutes away from the hospital, and I'd pop in in the evenings to chat and drink a beer with him.
If you're wondering - yes, Bren could actually play that bugle, and we had to fight to get it off him at 3am. :-) I still miss his unashamedly juvenile sense of humour every day.
I know times are tough, and I don't like to run for charity too often, but if you could spare a little something, I'd really appreciate it. Not only does The Christie provide excellent care, they're involved in world leading research into cancer prevention and cures.
My current personal best for the distance is 1 hour, 59 minutes and 19 seconds. I'm aiming to knock a minute off of that time, so send me good vibes!
