Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
A few months ago a couple of us were talking about what we could do in terms of fundraising for the Beatson Cancer Centre after yet another colleague had cause to use their services, we think that is the sixth person in recent years. What started off as 2 of us chatting became more than half the watch, then a few more...
So on the 25th August 2015 ELEVEN of us, over a quarter of the operational staff on the unit, will be cycling the 82 mile Five Ferries route around the Firth of Clyde and the Inner Hebrides.
We'll be crossing the Isle of Arran onto the Kintyre then Cowal peninsulas, then crossing Bute before returning to the mainland for the final leg.
This is a popular (but challenging) route for many experienced cyclists, which we aren't, in fact many have been talked into it against their better judgement and will be renting bikes. We've promised everyone we'll complete it as a group, although I'm not sure if that promise will withstand hills and inevitable Scottish Summer weather - time will tell.
UPDATE
With a week to go we have made a final push to attract sponsorship putting posters up, not just at Glasgow, but also at Prestwick Airport.
Prestwick's SATCO (Senior Air Traffic Control Officer) is currently undergoing a bone marrow transplant at The Beatson and as soon as their controllers found out what we were doing Robert Kennedy volunteered to join as as the Prestwick Ambassador.
Now we are THIRTEEN!
Thanks so much for reading this far and we, or more importantly The Beatson would really appreciate your support...
