As a group of friends, we are attempting a read-a-thon for refugees. We are setting ourselves individual challenges to read a number of pages/books in September. The books are educational books covering topics including race, nationality, gender, religion, sexuality, class, ageism and ability. The intention is to increase our awareness of our own privileges, the injustices others face and how we can be allies to these people. 

If anyone would like to sponsor us, we are raising money for the charity Friends Without Borders. It’s local to Portsmouth, based near Commercial road and it helps asylum seekers/refugees/vulnerable migrants. It has 2 key services. One helps with socialisation and preventing exclusion and isolation in the community, including English language lessons. Another provides case work support and sign posts to relevant organisations.
