L'Arche builds communities with people who have learning disabilities. Together with assistants, they live in ordinary houses, with choice in and access to work, therapy and local resources. The nine L'Arche communities in England, Scotland and Wales are founded on Christian values, also welcoming people of other faiths and none.

Story

Emily, Nelly, Diane, Kevin and Ben are taking on the Manchester 10k on Sunday 10th May. Some of us have never taken part in an event like this before and we've never taken part as a team before. We're excited and ready for the challenge!

In the UK we may think that money is tight but we have many friends in L'Arche across the world where communities receive no state funding whatsoever. In Africa, India, Bangladesh and South America, communities  face a constant battle to find sufficient funding. In L'Arche Manchester we want to do our bit to support our brother and sisters with learning disabilities across the world.

The International Federation of L'Arche Communities is a global organisation of 143 communities people with and without learning disabilities in 35 countries.
