Story

.

So round 2 begins………………..

As many of you know (mainly because I talk non-stop) I work with a group of athletes who are visually impaired.  Being part of this team has made me appreciate just how many challenges these guys face both on and off the court.  Everything from getting to training, to being a member of a gym, to thinking about nutrition is so much more taxing due to their disability yet the athletes manage without a question or a groan (well most of the time)

Witnessing their barriers, challenges and obstacles has made me realise how much I’d like to help – but being part of this team has also made me realise that without funds, this feat is a hurdle that even I cannot attempt to leap (‘leap’ maybe the wrong word – hurl is probably more suitable)

Furthermore the Paralympics is about creating a legacy  - the easier we can make it for these athletes to get the support they deserve will allow them to showcase their sport and help future sportsmen and women realise they too can compete in sport, be active and live a fuller lifestyle.

This is the second time I will haul myself around 26.2miles – last year 2 of us ran for Goalball UK and this year there are 5.  I’m hoping next year some of you may decide that I’m just making a mountain out of a molehill and you too will join in?

So please give anything you can – we really do have no idea how tough the world can be sometimes.  As Tesco’s says ‘every little helps’
