We provide specialist palliative care to those facing a life limiting illness

Story

Naturally, we all hope to never be in need of the services of a Hospice but, in January 2017, my mum was given a life expectancy of only 18 months, due to terminal cancer.

I am fortunate enough to be able to say that my mum is still with us and doing well, with medical management, but these events certainly draw into focus that, at any point, any of us could be in need of the help that Hospices provide, which is why I have chosen to take on this challenge in aid of the Garden House Hospice.

The Garden House Hospice Care provides specialist palliative care for patients, families and carers facing life limiting illnesses, to enable them to have the best possible quality of life by providing care and support in the setting of their choice, without discrimination.

These services, including a vast range of life-enhancing treatments, therapies, support networks and end of life care, are provided for free, however, last year it cost a massive £5 million to run the Hospice (as well as many, many hours of time from wonderful volunteers).

For this challenge, I will climbing Mount Kilimanjaro! Africa's Highest Peak - at nearly 6000 metres - this will be a huge challenge!

Please do give what you can to sponsor our efforts in aid of The Garden House Hospice. We hope to raise awareness as well as a lot of money to keep these services going, so that we can all rely on this wonderful support, should we ever need it.

Thank you so much!
