Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was diagnosed with a brain tumour in August 2014. Being told it was malignant was the worst moment of my life. It was like a rug had been swept mercilessly out from under me at the same time as being clobbered by a mallot. The future suddenly felt very uncertain; what became clear though was to make the most of life. Simple.
A friend told me recently 'you have so much to live for'. God, I know that. I held in the tears, that time. I also scribbled myself a note in hospital after the surgery and subsequent news... "Not given up", as a reminder to myself really. To this end, I am making sure that my family and I have things to look forward to on every new horizon. For me, this includes 'daft' challenges which I will plan from here onwards...
Doing these challenges for me is like therapy, it's (hopefully!) life giving in my opinion. Additionally, I would love to raise money for the Brain Tumour charity, which funds research and much much more. Brain cancer is the biggest killer in under forties, yet an almost insignificant amount of cancer research is focused in the brain.
Top of the challenge list back in December was the 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS runs, which totalled 3 marathons. Thanks to everyone who joined me.
In February, We did the 7 castles, 7 days challenge.
It's cycling, setting off from lancaster park in morpeth to 7 of our local castles such as Alnwick and Dunstanburgh. Details of exact dates and rides will be on Facebook.com/farghersfeats. First ride is the 21 February.
In march, it was the warrior beach assault challenge, a 10 k run on the beach and army style obstacle course...
April was The Cheviot Climb , May the Ramsey bay swim and June was the nightime coast to coast and also the coquet island kayak, July was the sea to sky run on the Isle of Man, August the Morpeth triathlon , September the Great North Run, October the Half Iron Man and Breamish bohemoth cycle challenge. That leaves two months to fill....
Thanks for donations so far, please donate again if you feel the cause and challenges are worthy!
