Story
Welcome to the Farnborough Sixth Form sleepout page 2012. On the 7th of November 60 of our students slept outside in the cold, wind and rain with only our clothes and sleeping bags for protection from the freezing British winter. For food we will only had soup, bread and water. The event was held on the college site between the Beacon and Whitehouse buildings and was a real success.
Why you ask? Step by step is a local charity who provide a home, support and the help needed to 11- 25 year olds who are about to become or are homeless. Last year our students funded £8,000 towards the charity which helped so much but this year we want to go not one more but two more by aiming for £10,000. We slept out so others don't have too! These are only children, teens and young adults, some of whom have/ are attending Farnborough Sixth Form such as Laura (Please read Lauras story here: http://www.stepbystep.org.uk/news-info/prel/AcademicSuccess.htm) - This charity is very close to our hearts.
A recent visit saw how supportive and vital this charity is to the local community but we cannot support this charity without YOUR support: the average household spends £474 a week with almost £3 going towards chocolate alone (source ONS 2010). A small portion of this given to this charity plea could make a huge difference to young people’s lives at not much loss to your lifestyle.
PLEASE donate generously!
