Story
The date of this event has changed due to Tour de France later start. We now ride between 30/7/18 and 2/8/18.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
The Fat Lads from Dore are a group of dads who raise money for The Children's Hospital charity by completing cycling events.
In 2015 we raised over £40,000 to build a state of the art patient and family room in the new wing of the Sheffield Children's Hospital and are now setting our sights on raising a further £50,000 for the same cause.
The name 'Fat Lads from Dore' came about as a tongue in cheek joke that all the members needed to shed more than a few pounds before even contemplating getting on a bike to cycle from London to Paris. As for our cycling pedigree, lets just say we are more 'Biggins than Wiggins' but are happy to endure lots of pain if we can help the Children's Hospital Charity.
Since our epic journey in 2015, not only have our waistlines expanded but our team has also expanded . We started as a group of five and are now a group of nine riding dads who are powered by real ale and pork pies.
Our current team is as follows:-
Fat1 - James Hope-Gill
Fat2 - Craig Smith
Fat3 - Dean Dove
Fat4 - Matt Currie
Fat5 - Pete Everitt
Fat6 - Andrew Miller
Fat7 - Simon Broughton
Fat8 - Guy Craig
ZeroFat - Farley Grist
Non Riding Fat Support - Matt Milbourn (AKA The Girdle)
In 2018 the 'Fat Lads' ride again and have accepted a challenge to cycle from Paris to Geneva. The route is a 360 mile gruelling challenge over a four day period and takes in a few small hills called 'The Alps'........gulp.
