CLAPA is a support organisation for all those affected by cleft lip and/or palate. One in 700 children are born with this condition. We provide information, advice, and support through our online events led by staff members and volunteers. Facebook groups, and peer and parent support services.

Story

CLAPA is a brilliant charity, supporting families and individuals through the ups and downs of all things cleft-related. From antenatal advice for parents of babies diagnosed with a cleft while still in the womb, through to amazing practical and emotional support for parents of babies and young children, to the amazing work they do with young people with clefts, particularly around self-esteem and self-image, right through to adulthood, ensuring adults with clefts remain supported too.

Our first son Jacob was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate which was diagnosed antenatally at the 20 week scan leading to a stressful and anxious pregnancy. Jacob is now the happy healthy five year old you can see in the picture on this page. He's clever, popular and doing well at school. We couldn't have got this far without the help of CLAPA and our regional cleft team.

We are also both Parent Contacts for CLAPA, supporting new parents of babies born with a cleft and also run Happy Faces Sheffield, an informal, friendly group for people affected by cleft to get together regularly to share experiences and have a laugh.

We appreciate even the smallest donation so please give whatever you can.
