It seems that Janet and I have signed up spontaneously for the Great North Run - on the day that applications closed. With only two months to get in shape before the event, two weeks of which we're on holiday, it's going to be extra tough preparing... and even tougher running it.

I have never run a half marathon before. And apparently this one is really hilly. Especially at the end. Which is one big hill. Oh dear.
