Parish Sounds in memory of Fergus Parkinson

Liz Silvester is raising money for Young Minds Trust
In memory of Fergus Parkinson
We’re leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges. We’re here to make sure children and young people get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties. Join our fight.

Story

Fergus was eighteen when he took his own life in October. He was born in Walthamstow Village and was an E17 boy through and through. Both he and his brother, Max, went to Henry Maynard School. For the last eight years we have lived in the Wood Street area which he fully embraced as his neighbourhood.

Fergus was popular, kind, loyal and had a keen sense of social justice. He got three A levels and was talking about joining the Fire Service to do something active where he could also help people. When he got the job at Parish, he was delighted. He loved working there.

We knew that he struggled, particularly this year. He managed to get some help but not enough. The number of young people presenting at A&E with urgent mental health needs has tripled in the last ten years and behind the statistics are real stories like ours. This is where Young Minds is so vital, not just as an important place for young people to turn, but to give parents essential guidance too.

We cannot thank the team at Parish Wines enough for giving us the platform to do this in memory of Fergus.
