Story
Just after Christmas, guilt-ridden after the endless Maltesers, Pringles and mince pies consumed, I bit the bullet and signed up for the Newport Marathon.
Little did I realise how difficult it would be to force myself out of my warm lovely bed, and into the wind, rain and cold. How did I forget how dreary the weather is in the middle of Winter in Wales?
As well as ticking off something that’s been on my bucket list for a few years, I also wanted to raise money for a great cause that means a great deal to me. I’d always said that if I ever were to run a marathon, I would raise money for Shelter Cymru. I’m so glad I have the opportunity to do so now, especially considering the increase in recent years in the number of people living on the streets. You only have to walk down a high street in any town or city in Wales (and in the UK in general) to bear witness to that. Shelter Cymru does so much for those without a roof over their heads, those facing homelessness, and those living in inadequate and unsafe housing. Please support this great charity anyway you can.
