Story

Just to clarify- the jumps been paid for and 100% of proceeds will go directly to charity 😁

Unfortunately has to be postponed due to storms Sharon and Tracy or whatever their names are now pelting the UK in February

I’m not actually nervous about jumping out of a plane at all, which is a bit weird because when I was a little kid, I was terrified of everything.  Bales of hay, shoes that were too big (or too tight), yellow paint, taxidermy, etc....... and double decker buses, waxworks (still shit scare me), carpets that felt “strange” - I used to pass out in the presence of these things. You know - the normal stuff that kids are scared of.

Over the years, I’ve come to realise, it’s the things you don’t confront that scare you the most ... but this skydive came out of the blue, as a present from Gaz on my 40th birthday. So, I’d like to use it as an opportunity to do some good for the place that I work, and the amazing patients we have there, who overcome life-changing injuries on a daily basis.

We would love to have a Sara Steady stand aid of our own: this is a simple, but brilliant piece of equipment that costs around £1,700. Another colleague is also raising cash for the same cause...... it’s not glamorous/sexy/going to restart someone’s heart when it stops beating....... BUT it’s a really good piece of kit that gets people who’ve not been able to get out of bed, STAND, instead of being hoisted. It gives them confidence no matter what age they are that they have strength left and can do more...... ok I’m hamming it up massively but nurses and physios alike love it and we want to be able to buy one so we don’t  have to share with the trauma ward and then everyone benefits- yes?! Waheey!

If you can spare £3 that’s a great little start, for “Expectation is the root of all heartache”, which is also why I’ve been a little shy and late to put this request out.

But anyway, send some money and you’ll definitely help some good people get up on their feet and back to a sense of normality (why does normalcy come up in my predictatext? Is normalcy even a word?)
