I suffered from shingles this time last year and after a painful few months and poor health, i decided to apply for a Ballot place in the Great North Run. The biggest half marathon in the world. An event which i watched on TV for many years with 15,000 runners taking part! In January, i was delighted to hear that my entry was successful. As my ballot entry doesnt require fund raising like other runners. I would like to write on my race number and run with pride on 9th September for a little 3 yr old local girl called Ellen Treanor, whos family are well know in the Camlough/Bessbrook area. Ellen has touched hearts near and far in her fight against stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma. Ellen has undergone gruelling treatment, including chemotherapy, surgery, high dose chemo and a stem cell transplant. She still has to go through radiotherapy and 6 months of immunotherapy. 

Unfortunately, neuroblastoma has a high risk of relapse. The families aim is for Ellen to take part in a clinical trial in America to reduce the risk of Ellen's cancer returning.
