Welcome to my Just Giving Page -
I am looking to raise money for Macmillan as a Thank You to them for how amazing they are and here is the reason why.
This time last year (November 2013) I was given the life changing news that I had stage one skin cancer. After noticing a mole on holiday I went and got it checked and after a number of doctor and hospital appointments I was given the news.
To say I was shocked was an understatement but thankfully my family, partner and friends were incredible. As a person who was always fit and healthy I took this news pretty bad and made the mistake of going online to read about skin cancer.
I got my operation on the 18th December last year to remove my skin cells to make sure the cancer hadnt spead to my lymph nodes. Our xmas and new year was not the same and I celebrated my 30th birthday not knowing the results. Any pain I got in my leg or in my body I had it in my mind that the cancer had spread. I finally got the news in January this year that the cancer hadnt spread to which we were delighted. At this time I made a challenge to get myself the fittest I have ever been and here is how I done this:
· Hired a personal trainer - resutling in a current weight loss of over a stone
· Ran Stirling 10K
· Ran Strathcarron 10K
· Ran Glasgow Half Marathon
I am now planning to train the next 29 weeks over the winter period running a total of 588 miles before the big day
I was over the moon when I got accepted to run for Macmillan at the London Marathon and its my way of thanking them for their phone calls, for sharing other peoples stories who have been through this. Fortunately I got my mole checked out when I did, but unfortunately I am still "at risk" and have to attend the hospital every 3 months for check ups.
Thanks for reading my page and please give generously, I am looking/needing to raise £2000 and appreciate all sponsors.
Thanks in advance
Fiona
