We fund two clinics in Bhopal to help the survivors of the 1984 Disaster

Story

December 3rd will be the 37th anniversary of the Bhopal gas disaster, when thousands were killed and from which hundreds of thousands still suffer. The indifference of those responsible and those in power is staggering, but the love shown by ordinary people around the world is truly amazing. Funds raised over the past decades help run the Sambhavna Clinic for medical treatment and the Chinghari Rehabilitation Centre for children. They offer their services free to those affected by the disaster. I had the honour of visiting both clinics in January 2020, just before lockdown, and was overwhelmed by the dedication and love shown by parents and staff. A New Year’s Eve entertainment by the children at Chinghari was the highlight of my trip and an occasion I shall never forget.

So, on this year’s anniversary I want to do something personal for this cause so close to my heart, to raise awareness and funds by shaving my head. Please can you help me raise £1000 (at least!) for the Bhopal Medical Appeal which funds the clinics? Hair does grow back (hopefully!). I don’t have a lot and the shave will quick, so please make every hair count.

Many thanks, Fiona
