Story
After years of talk, I've finally signed on the dotted line and I shall be attempting to run the London Marathon in April. Standing on the finish line in 2015, I swore no matter what, I had to do it in 2016 - so here I am. And I'm doing it to raise money for Marie Curie, just £20 will pay for an hour of our nursing care.
I'm not a natural runner, I do not enjoy it, in fact I think it's pretty dull - these points would indicate this isn't the event for me. However I really do love a medal and the gloating that comes with it. So I have got a training plan and basically I'm going to be a little busy for the next few months as all I shall be doing is run, run, running.
The impact of all this running also means that I am going to be turning down social engagements to fit in the training, and be laying off the booze come Feb. This feels ridiculously unnatural to me as you can well imagine!
But I'm not just running so I can get a medal, come marathon day, I will have just celebrated my two year anniversary working for Marie Curie. This charity does such incredible work and I am so proud to work for them. Although the name is known to many, lots of people don't really know what we do - well what we do is provide care and support for people living with any terminal illness. We do this through our nurses who will come to your home and care for you during the night and through our hospices around the country, these are as just a couple of examples of what we do.
Please give what you can for this incredible cause, as mentioned earlier it costs £20 for an hour of Marie Curie nursing care, and I'm aiming to raise enough money to pay for 125 hours of care. Your money will go straight into helping us provide this care 24/7, 365 days a year. it'll also help keep me motivated over the coming months and give me the push I need to get to the finish line on the day.
