Story
I have visited Malawi many times over the last 30 years, due to personal family connections. I have witnessed the incredible work Open Arms do in keeping families and communities together in the face of huge obstacles caused by poverty, climate change and disease.
Running the Great North Run is an enormous personal challenge for me, maybe even a little bit crazy! I have had my own health issues and find running hard and have completed the couch to 5km with my youngest son to get back to running again. I wanted a physical challenge for my own well-being and this opportunity to raise funds for such a worthy cause gave me an inspirational incentive.
Every child has the right to life, survival and development. By supporting Open Arms you are providing medical attention, shelter, food and love to some of Malawi’s orphaned and abandoned children. Your donations allow us to give the children in our care the chance to grow up with the love of a family and the security of a home until they are fit enough to return to their communities.Thank you!
