For my mum, losing her hair was (may seem crazy) almost the worst part of the chemotherapy, yes, worse than the awful sickness and weakness she felt throughout her treatment Her hair was her crowning glory, as it is for me, for many women. My mum always looked good, always dressed well, always had her hair just right. Losing her hair was the final straw, an indignity she did not want alongside the huge tumour growing inside her stomach. Unfortunately the chemo didn't work for mum, but it has for many others. And now with new research there are some chemo treatments that don't cause hair loss. So for mum, and for every person who has had to go through hair loss as part of their treatment. I want to make a big gesture, a statement. and I want to raise funds for Our Lady's Hospice & Care Services that looked after her so well and for the Irish Cancer Society who do so much to make treatments more bearable. Shaving my hair on 24th February at 2pm. Then I'm going to donate the money that I would spend on dyeing and blow drying my hair for the next year to the two charities. ever cent helps.
