Mind BLMK offers friendship, respect, opportunity and choice to improve the lives of people with a range of mental health needs. We operate across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes, offering a range of services which promote social inclusion, recovery and re-engagement with the community.

Story

This last year has been spoken about more than most will have wanted to.

Yet still, the impact won't be known for a long while. Those that have suffered and those that are suffering, with any mental health issues, have had to suffer in relative silence. The system is overwhelmed and so anything we can do to support the cause is absolutely needed.

Recently, both Ren and I have taken part in a 21 day well-being challenge. It was a team challenge, with activities splits across 3 sections. The idea was to collect points for what you did. There were levels of intensity or volume etc. This 21 days has led to a complete mindset shift for all involved. Both Ren and I have taken up yoga (which was a part of the challenge) which we never considered previously. We also ran and cycled distances that we would normally pass up. Aside from the competition, we spoke regularly about the feeling of being 'alive'. The energy gained from this challenge has pushed us to do more. As a result we looked at how else we could push ourselves. And the triathlon dream was born.

Lets just address this. I hate running. Ren is fast over short distances. Neither of us have a bike right now...oh and neither have been in a pool when we weren't bobbing up and down with our kids as the Tarzan sound bellowed to signify the waves incoming. But we have got this...

Once we decided to sign up, our next thought was to raise money for charity. First time doing this, so there are no guarantees (facepalm) that we finish haha. We will...but the incentive of doing it to raise money for a charity close to us was too good to pass up.

The reason we chose Mind is simple. We believe, as deeply as it gets, that we can make a difference. The money we raise will support the work that Mind do in supporting those that require it. To make sure that no individual is left behind as we navigate our way through this torrid time.

If you can, without comprise to your own situation, please donate. It would mean the world to us.

Thanks and see you on the other side!
