Sandy's Just Giving Page

Walk all Over Cancer · 1 February 2016 to 31 March 2016 ·
Hiya, and thanks so much for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
Now, I'm far too unfit to do a running thing at this point, so, Cancer Research's "Walking All Over Cancer" campaign is a way for us less active types to do something good for ourselves and for a cause we believe in. As many of you visiting this page will know, I lost my mam to brain cancer when I was a babba of 25. I'm now a whopping 47 years old and I still miss her presence (and her home-made soup) in my world EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. On top of that, I've seen, and am seeing, close friends fight this hideous thing with the kind of spirit and determination that makes us realise that we need to hold on to, and fight for, our own health and live life to the fullest... NOW... cuz this beast can strike anyone at any time.
So, I may not be running (yet) but racking up 10,000 steps a day for the whole of September is no mean feat for an office-bound sloth like me! Eight-and-a-half hours a day sat in a swivel chair, plus four to five hours a day sat on buses commuting to and from said swivel chair, has taken it's toll on my health, both mentally and physically. I'm currently in the very painful throws of Plantar Fasciitis AND Achilles Tendinitis. Ouchy! So, I signed up for a WALKING challenge!!! (I've never been known for my sensible decisions). So, I'm hoping this challenge will not only help me raise money for a charity which is working hard to eradicate cancer from our world but also help me raise my own spirits and get me back on the road to good health.

And please donate to help keep me inspired to keep stepping away. Better still, join in! Invite me on walks, join me on mine, get involved yourself, or, just sit in a comfy chair and donate, no matter how much... small change soon mounts up.
Thank you so much for reading this far... now... gan on man... cough up! :)
Much love, Sandy. x
