Story

This year I will be running the London Marathon which is a dream come true since I started my running journey nearly 9 years ago. At the start, I  just wanted to get fit as I approached my 40th birthday but as the running bug developed I decided to join my local running club    ( Ellesmere Port Running Club). This was a very scary prospect, as I thought that you have to be good and very fast at running to be part of a club. I attended ‘Beginners Night’ and met some lovely people who were really friendly and supportive and I haven’t looked back since then.

I am married and have two children and I work full-time as a Deputy headteacher in a primary school so life is very hectic but I can honestly say that through running I have made some amazing friends. Whatever the weather, we run together to be there for each other and support one another through the good times and the bad times.

Tragically in 2020 we lost a very dear friend, whose motto when it came to running was, “ Just rock up and run…” She fought a brave battle with bowel cancer and spent her last days being cared for by wonderful staff at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

So this year I am very proud to run the London Marathon in support of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. My target is to raise £2500 with your support. Please donate whatever you can as every penny you donate helps the Hospice of the Good Shepherd provide care and support to families affected by cancer and other life limiting illnesses.
