The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

Story

10 years ago my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and she believes that the worst part of the treatment, was loosing all her hair.

Aged only 8, I watched my mother go through the agony of having her waist length hair cut off and the rest fall out in handfuls and saw how upset it made her feel at the time. I couldn't and still can't, imagine how it must have been for her and when I saw this charity a new thought popped into my head "If it was that upsetting for my mother, a grown woman, how upsetting it would be for a child to have to deal with?"

I have been considering having my hair cut short for a long time but when I read about this charity, I decided to go ahead and get my waist length hair cut short and donate it, along with setting a fundraising target of £350, the amount of money it would cost to supply one of these wigs to a young person, going through such difficult times.
