Books2Africa is a UK charity that collects and sends donated books to increase the quality of education in Africa by helping individuals and communities to access, read, and understand books, and to extend the life and impact of books by decreasing book waste and increasing book readcycling.

Story

Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping to send a large shipment of books from Tewkesbury school over to African schools in Ghana. During my recent trip to Ghana my eyes were opened at just how privileged we are to get a free education. It was utterly heartbreaking to see kids unable to learn due to restrictions in schools and lack of resources.

A typical Ghanaian classroom will have no desks, no chairs, no computers and no books! Inevitably, students who attend such schools in Africa are mostly from low income families and obtain a very poor education. In fact, according to UNESCO, more than 60% of students who go to school in Africa will not be able to read or write properly after finishing school. Yet in the UK, students, teachers and businesses throw millions of books away daily and harming the environment! One problem is the other’s solution! Help us educate people and save the environment.

Tewkesbury school has a huge amount of books and textbooks we do not use, and so I want to ship these books over to schools where they will be graciously used and provide third world countries with a better level of education.

Any donations will be graciously received and help provide a better education to students who are desperate for it!
