Centred is a charity that helps to support people living with mental ill health. We aim to improve quality of life by promoting recovery, inclusion and independence. Along with the use of our discovery college. We support people living in Inverness, Caithness, Easter Ross, and Lochaber.

Story

I started running as a way to heal physically after an ankle surgery in 2008, but it's really in 2010 that I properly fell into it. I was going through a really dark period at the time and running helped get me through it and, I don't say this lightly, really changed my life.

Shortly after, I started my first internship as a journalist at Runner's World France and quickly fell into ultra-running and its incredible community. All those years later, I dream of taking part in the Spartathlon, a 247km race from Athens to Sparta retracing the route that the famous Greek soldier Pheidippides ran -and back- at the cost of his own life in 490 B.C. In order to be eligible for the draw in 2024, I will need to run at least 180km during the Loch Ness 24, in August this year.

Fundraising for a charity like Centred which aims at helping people who, like me, went and are going through tough times, it just makes sense. Centred is the Highland's leading mental health charity, they’re here to help people living with mental ill-health ditch any stigma associated with it and feel like an important part of their community. Some say that running is the best kind of therapy and I definitely agree with that. Those of you who have known me over the years are already aware that I still struggle with my own disorders every now and then, and that's why I want to help people in the same situation as much as I can.

Any amount can make a difference for someone out there and if you can't donate, please reach out to people around, spread the word about this great cause.

Thank you all in advance for your help :)
