On Sunday the 26th March 2017, my little brother Craig made the decision to take his own life. Since then our family have been grieving the loss of a young man & father who was yet to reach his 27th Birthday.
As with most things you don't really understand the scale of a problem until you feel it close to home. Since then i've found out that suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35 & that it's a growing problem within the UK.
I am thankful for recent PR campaigns which have helped to remove the stigma around mental health & in his memory I'm keen to offer more support to people who may have similar struggles. Hence I've chosen to support Papyrus who are an organisation who aim to help young people who are contemplating what is an irreversible action. The work they do will not only support people in the here & now, but also help the next generation of young adults.
On the 23rd June, 5 Barclays Business colleagues will set off with an aim to complete the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge in 12 hours. The yorkshire 3 peaks comprise of the Pen-y-ghent, Whernside & Ingleborough and the route is 24 miles in distance & includes 1585m of ascent.
Please utilise all of your resources (time, money & networks) to help mitigate this scenario for someone else rather than mourn the loss of another young person taken too early.
A big thanks from all of the fundraisers including Meleri Jones, Mia Zhou, Tom Li, Ross Irvine & Frankie Woodhead & Family
