Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.

Isobel Fraser Taylor widow of Jim Taylor (Airdrie & Rochdale) and Dr Allan Wilson (Rochdale) known as Betty Burgess in Gairloch, Findhorn, Aberdeen and Glasgow born in 1916, died peacefully in her sleep on 16th March 2013 in Shrewsbury. A Sister in the Queen Alexandra's Nursing Corps, she was shipwrecked by torpedo in the Mediterranean before nursing the troops in North Africa and Italy where she met Allan and married in the space of six weeks. She chaired the NSPCC fundraising committee in Rochdale for fifteen years and wished that donations to that charity would be made rather than flowers sent to her funeral. The service will be at 2.30 pm on Wednesday 17th April in the United Reformed Church, Shrewsbury. Isobel leaves six children, eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and will be sorely missed.
