Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in people’s homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.

Story

WE DID IT!

Six months of seemingly endless training finally culminated on Sunday in perfect sunny weather and an unbelievable atmosphere not even dampened by Freyja’s string of injuries or Jemma’s streaming cold (strepsils and tissues tucked in various items of underwear!).

We ran every step from Newcastle to South Shields, got the times we aimed for, felt the pain, but absolutely loved it… Paolo and Dad did a top job as cheering squad and on-the-day support team (no small task with the various demands made by the Halman sisters!), and the knowledge that we had such a fantastic support team all round the country and beyond was a massive boost every step of the way.

We’re feeling very proud of ourselves, but even more than that is how delighted and amazed we are to say that, with your help, we’ve raised an absolutely incredible £2,500 for the Marie Curie Research Institute – that’s over £3,000 including Gift Aid… Which leads us to say:

THANK YOU. For all the wonderful messages of support, good luck and congratulation, for the amazing generosity of donations, for trying to spot us on the tele! And most of all for helping us celebrate the memory of a very special woman, our mum Ro-Ro.
