Brighton Ladies swimming 5 kilometres in the Sea to raise money for War Child. Please see below for a full description of the charity

Who are the Friday Dippers? The “Friday Dippers”are a group of women drawn together by a love of the sea and a desire to improve both physical and mental health. Swimming in the sea provides a place to unite, enjoy nature and connect with new friends.

The group started in January 2020 and initially met on the beach ( every Friday) to dip and chat.
This was interrupted by a pandemic and numerous lockdowns.
After lockdown number 3 a ‘couch to 5km’ open water swim was created by the open water swimming society.The Friday dippers decided it would be the perfect challenge.

Last  year 60 ladies swam 5km on the 11th September. The swim started at Hove Lagoon and finished at Sea Lanes. 
Over 70 ladies have committed to the challenge this year and have been training in pods of 6-8. Swimtrek have supported us once again.with training tips and advice. 

Date: Saturday 24th September 2022 -in the morning.. We will be keeping an eye on the weather and tides and pick the optimal start time.

Support the Dippers they are brave and bold and just a little crazy!! They swim in the depths of winter, watch sunrises and are partial to a fancy dress costume and flowery hat.
