Annual "GOOD MORNING" charity appeal · 6 April 2020

Local GP Dr. Martin Lawrence's dying wish was that patients in his practice should be able to die at home; his work was made reality through the work of District Nurse Jane Phillips MBE. The service has grown and now provides free hospice at home care covering five GP practices in Oxfordshire.

Story

These are hard times for all of us but the current crisis has highlighted how much in need we are of local "at home" caring groups and how much local "at home" caring groups are in need of us.

In keeping with my practice in the past years I am shunning the national charities with their ludicrous overheads and am targeting my and my readers' efforts at those immediately around me.

These are people who have quietly and without beating their chests been doing good in the homes of their wards year in, year out. Now, with quarantining and self-isolation being all the rage we all are experiencing what it means to have to rely on the kindness of strangers to make it through.

I am myself not in need of home care but one day.....you never know...
