The money I will be raising will be going directly to the research program called the discovery appeal being led by GOSH. This appeal consists of 50 million pounds invested over five years of which every penny will contribute to helping find and develop cures and treatments for the six priority areas that Great Ormond Street Hospital specialises in: birth defects and tailor-made transplants, cancer, heart conditions, hormone and cell function disorders, immune system disorders and muscle-wasting diseases.
I wanted to help GOSH in achieving this goal when I first saw disheartening statistics such as these: •Today, one in three of the children affected with any of these will not make it past the age of five. •As many as five children a day lose their lives to a rare disease •Only 5% of UK research funding is spent on projects relating to child health.
Great Ormond Street Hospital are the UK’s largest dedicated funder of child health research. However they urgently need more support to help take research further than it's ever gone before to be able to offer hundreds of thousands of children a better life and a brighter future.
This is why, on the 9th of June I will be shaving my hair to raise awareness and to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and I am asking you to donate any amount of money to this cause. Every penny counts and matters. You can go to www.gosh.org/what-we-do/research to find out more about the research and help you would be contributing to. There is no time limit to donate and I am aiming to raise at least three thousand pounds.
Watch out for the video of me getting my hair shaved off in upcoming weeks on https://www.youtube.com/SpiritYPC and remember to donate whenever you want, however much you want and however many times you want. Thank you so much for any donations.
