Scoo-B-Doo works alongside Gloucester Royal Special Care Baby Unit to buy the best and most advanced equipment available to help save babies in need of special care. Through it's fundraising efforts for advanced equipment for example - ventilators, incubators and monitors, Scoo-B-Doo helps to give its tiny patients the best possible chance of life.

Our Story:

Our beautiful boy Alfie was born at Gloucester Royal Hospital on 24th May 2018. From the time Alfie was born, he needed specialist care and was immediately transferred to GRH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Once there, Alfie was placed on a ventilator and in an incubator. After 3 days he was taken off his ventilator and put onto a CPAP machine, to help keep his airway open.

After a long hard 3 weeks of fighting - which included 2 rounds of CPR - Alfie became strong enough to leave his incubator for a cot. This was a milestone all the family took great joy in.

However, this joy was short-lived. Over the next 2 weeks, Alfie continued to fight hard, receiving a further 4 rounds of CPR.

After a hard fought 39 days, he sadly became too tired to fight anymore and, peacefully in his mum's arms, grew his angel wings on 2nd July 2018.

We cannot thank the staff on NICU enough for all their continuous care not only to Alfie but all the other babies on the unit.

The equipment Alfie needed amounted to nearly £100,000. Without this equipment our family would not have had our beautiful boy for 39 days, for this we are all extremely grateful.

Scoo-B-Doo enables the unit to obtain extra equipment, replace older equipment or purchase multiples of items as and when they need them. By obtaining the equipment through the charity it can speed up the process and allow for more flexibility rather than applying through the trust.

As a family, our target is £10,000! This will provide new equipment such as a ventilator to help other poorly babies like Alfie on the unit.

We are participating in/organising various events through the coming months, and will keep you up to date on progress and events.
