Story
It
is hard to imagine the pain and distress which Sundance was suffering
before his rescue: alone, weak and enduring the agony of his smashed
leg, he had to fend for himself until he came into our care. It would have been easy for him to simply give up.
But Sundance was as determined to pull through as the vets and his carers were to help transform his life. Even after the necessary amputation of his leg, there was some way to go: he was still weak and could not walk properly. Regular nutritious meals and a regime of hydro- and physiotherapy – alongside lots of love – gradually changed his life. Sundance never looked back and his life has not just been saved but transformed. His zest for life is inspiring and quite contagious!
Tigger can't tell us why he's so terrified of everyone and everything, afraid of what may happen to him next. What we do know is that it takes a long time for dogs like Tigger to learn to trust again. His deep-seated fears of both humans and large dogs were slowly overcome with the help of GRWE’s specialist volunteer behaviour team. Tigger’s foster family have decided to adopt him so they can always be on hand to help him live a happier, more relaxed life.
Sundance and Tigger are just two of the dogs whose lives have been transformed, thanks to your kind support. Without the specialist care and treatment they needed, who knows what might have happened to them.
GRWE never gives up on giving dogs a second chance.
There will always be dogs like Tigger and Sundance who need that extra help, and we could not do it without your generous support. Seeing them so happy in their forever homes and assured of a safe future is the very reason why we exist and is worth every penny.
